No Tangle Styler Brush Review (Tangle Teezer Dupe) || Sample Sundays

I first came across this product whilst browsing through my Mid Summer Blogger Meet goody bag. I'd previously avoided the Tangle Teezer hype as I thought it wasn't a product well suited to my thick Afro hair texture, but decided to give the No Tangle hair brush a try anyway!

The No Tangle set came complete with the Macadamia No Tangle Styler Brush, the Deep Repair Masque and the Healing Oil Treatment (pictured above). I've previously reviewed the Deep Repair Masque and the Healing Oil Treatment, more details about these products can be found in that review.
Now onto the No Tangle Styler brush, according to Macadamia Hair this brush "is so gentle that cuticle damage is minimised, helping protect the vibrancy, shine and longevity of colour treated hair." They also claim the brush: 1. Smooths the cuticle layer, 2. Minimises breakage, splitting and damage, 3. Painless and stress-free detangler 4. Recommended for fragile or chemically treated hair. 5. Excellent for scalp massage and improved circulation. 6. Safe for use with hair extensions. Is it just me or is that a lot of claims for one hair brush! Let's break this down shall we?!

Claim 1: Smooths the cuticle layer
This is quite hard to judge by just looking at your hair, I doubt the human eye can notice such specific changes...in short I can't confirm if this claim is true!

Claim 2: Minimises breakage
I found when I used this brush both with my natural (Afro) hair and my weave/hair extensions I didn't see a reduction in hair breakage. In fact I would say the amount of breakage may have slightly increased when using this brush with my natural hair.

Claim 3: Painless and stress-free detangler
This brush was a great tool which helped during detangling of my very tangle prone thick afro hair. I found brushing through my hair when wet much easier and less painful.

Claim 4: Recommended for fragile or chemically treated hair
My hair is relaxed (chemically treated to reduce the intensity of the curls). I quite enjoyed using  this brush with my hair and I'd recommend it if your hair is coloured or chemically treated.

Claim 5: Excellent for scalp massage and improved circulation
I'm not a big fan of scalp massages so can't really comment on this claim. If you've used this brush during a scalp massage I'd love to know how you found it.

Claim 6: Safe for use with hair extensions
I absolutely agree with this claim. I'm constantly installing hair extensions and like to use this brush as it doesn't tug or pull at my extensions.

Overall I really like this product, it's surprisingly well suited to a range of hair textures. One con however, is that I found it was much better at detangling the ends of my hair rather than the roots.

What do you think of this product? Would you compare it to the Tangle Teezer?

  1. This sounds interesting! I have very thick, heavy hair that is also coloured and is wavy, I may have to have a look at this as I find brushing can be very harsh when your hair is so thick.

    Thanks for sharing!

  2. I like the look of it, but most important I like the "less painful while brushing your hair" part of your review... it might be worth giving it a go

  3. I have used another similar product, and I found the bristles to be to short to really attack my very curly, very thick hair. It took a long time and a lot of sectioning to actually brush through my hair, although as a rule I usually only brush my own hair when it is wet and full of conditioner.
    Thanks for the review x

  4. I have a tangle teezer and find that it's good for the ends of my hair but not that good for the rest of it. A bit disappointing to be honest. I normally just use a regular hairbrush now lol
