DIY Honey and Lemon Face Mask

Some of the best products for your skin can be found in your kitchen. Today I wanted to share a really easy recipe for a face mask I like to use and it only contains two ingredients. Honey and lemon.

Benefits of Honey and Lemon
Honey has great humectant qualities which means it's a great moisturiser. Honey attracts water and also helps to ensure the skin retains water. I find that after using this mask my skin always feels super soft. Honey is also a great antiseptic, as it has antibacterial properties which means it's great for acne prone skin. Lemon juice is well known for it's lightening and brightening properties. However, it's important that it is used with caution and in moderation as it is extremely acidic with a ph level around 2. This also means that if you have sensitive skin then you may want to avoid products with a high concentration of lemon (maybe a honey mask will work better for you).

So onto the face mask itself. I like to use it once a week (usually on a Sunday evening). The trick is to experiment with the quantities of each products. The recipe I've shared below is what works for me.

Step 1
Add one to two tablespoons of honey into a bowl. I'm using normal honey but if you have raw honey that might be better.

Step 2
Next add one to two tablespoons of fresh lemon juice into the same bowl.

Step 3
Mix the two ingredients together.

Step 4
Finally apply the mask to your face and leave for 15 - 20 minutes before washing off with warm water.

Did you try this face mask? Why not let me know in the comments section or tweet me.
