Mac Ruby Woo Lipstick Review

This week I’ve fallen in love with red lipsticks after ordering one of Macs bestselling lipsticks, Ruby Woo. I thought I would write a little review about the lipstick and share how I like to wear it.

Ruby Woo is by far one of the most talked about red lipsticks by Mac! Ironically about a year ago when I wanted to purchase a red lipstick from Mac I decided to pick up Viva Glam I (which is actually the colour that I’m wearing in the picture on the About Me page)! Like Viva Glam I, Ruby Woo is also a matte finish. I think this lipstick is amazing, and don’t quite understand why it took me so long to buy it! As it’s a blue toned red it also helps to make your teeth look whiter! I think this colour compliments all skin tones from the lightest to the darkest and everyone in-between. Most of the time I prefer to wear the lipstick matte, but on the odd occasion or those days I’m not feeling so daring I’ll apply a thin coat of clear lipgloss which helps to take the edge off a little but still leaves the colour.

Now a word of warning, when people say this lipstick is drying they are not joking, personally I think Ruby Woo has to be one of the most drying lipsticks I own! I like to make sure I’ve exfoliated my lips using a homemade sugar scrub, I also moisturise my lips by applying my favourite lip balm which is the Burt’s Bees Honey lip balm.

Overall this is a great colour and a classic lipstick which I’m sure I will be wearing for years to come! But be warned make sure you don’t leave your lip balm at home the day you’re wearing it!

Do you own Ruby Woo and how do you like to wear it? Let me know in the comments section.

  1. This looks so gorgeous on you! Personally I'm after Russian red as I feel it will suit my skin tone better and I have pretty dry lips as it is! Lovely review though!! Xx

  6. I've been thinking for a while about trying a red lippy, but wasn't sure if it would suit my complexion! But it really suits you, so think I will give it a go - it would go with my red dress :-) I think the matte finish looks great, but I'd prob add touch of the old favorite, Vaseline, over the top!
