To Act or To React? || Monday Moments #5

If you've read my 20 Things I’ve Learnt in 20 Years blog post you may have noticed that this is actually one of my favourite quotes. This famous quote believed to have originally been said by Eleanor Roosevelt, continuously reminds me that we have a lot more power than we often give ourselves credit. But why is this?
The answer is surprisingly very simple. Although we can't control the actions of others, or other life events, there is one thing we can control. Our own thoughts and our actions.

Like most of you, I too have had my fair share of hurtful comments, but with each hurtful comment I had two options. I could either act or I could react to the person's comment. Some comments were honest truths, constructive feedback which I was able to take on board and act on, where as other comments were just plain hurtful. It's these comments which require you to "be the bigger person" and to ensure that you act in a positive manner rather than reacting and being led by your emotions.

So remember, "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent" because you have the power to choose how to act to whatever others say or do.
